This site is dedicated to the guided missile fregate HMS De Ruyter of the  Royal Netherlands Navy. 

Introduction

In early years of the seventies, the ship made his first voyage. 

For this time it was was a revolutionairy ship. The ship had 3 dimensional radar. It had gasturbine propulsion and was equiped with all sort of missiles The disigners did not forgot the crew. On the brigde every one of the bridge crew had its own chair. The crewquaters were also very spacious.  HMS De Ruyter and her sitership HMS Tromp became the flagships of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

The ship is named after the famous dutch admiral by the name of Michiel Adreanszoon de Ruyter. 

The ship was decommissioned in october 2000. His last voyage was to London. Only the bridge is saved form shipwrecker. It is now standing at the navy museum at Den Helder.
